Kidnapping Tragedy Spurs Bay Area Artist & Humanitarian into

Massive Action

World-renowned ‘Heart Artist’, Debbie Marie Arambula, launches ‘Spread the Love’ tour with sole purpose to infuse love into society through her art and through distributing hundreds of special-edition, hand-signed, commemorative The Way to Happiness booklets.

Campbell, CA, July 12, 2012–FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –The recent kidnapping incident involving 15-year-old Sierra LaMar did more than just rock the local community in which Campbell artist and humanitarian, Debbie Marie Arambula, internationally known as ‘The Heart Artist’, grew up. It made Arambula take a hard look at the local, national and international state of society. It forced her to ask herself tough questions – and she wasn’t happy with the answers.

“This issue doesn’t just affect us here in the Bay Area,” says Arambula. “Children everywhere are being abused, abducted and worse. Kids are being bullied in schools. Crime rates are at all-time highs and the educational system is falling apart.” Arambula refuses to continue on like everything is normal. She decided something has to be done about it – but not just about kidnapping, “This goes much broader and deeper than that. This is a symptom of the society around us, and this made me realize that while my art lifts people up and makes them feel more love, it’s just not enough! I’m not making a big enough impact on society.”

That’s exactly what she decided she is going to do. Arambula believes this is a battle that has to be fought on a huge, sweeping scale. Her weapons? Art and a small, yet powerful, booklet called, The Way to Happiness, a non-religious booklet of “making good choices in life that restores honesty, competence and human dignity”

Arambula’s plan is to launch her ‘Spread the Love Campaign’ tour, an international art tour that aims to infuse communities with love and respect to the point where crime rates drop, bullying stops, and people treat each other with kindness and compassion. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but have put it on the back burner – until now.”

As part of the tour, she has partnered with The Way to Happiness Foundation International to create limited-edition, hand-signed, commemorative versions of the booklet with one of her own paintings, ‘Living Love’ on the cover. She plans to take a $5 donation for each of these and will use the proceeds to fund the tour, which will include stops in all major cities, where the focus will be on schools. The passion behind the art tour, Arambula says, is to facilitate art projects in combination with this powerful booklet, to ignite creativity & inspire children make the right choices. It’s not about her art, but about bringing art back to schools.  “Kids need art to express themselves; it is vital to the nurturing of one’s imagination and creativity. Art has the power to inspire change. It is an important educational basic & I personally believe the lack of it in our school system contributes to the downfall of society in ways that we can’t even fathom.”  The tour’s focus will be to inspire kids to create artworks based on Precept 20 of The Way To Happiness, ‘Try to treat others as you would want them to treat you.’ Each stop on the tour will culminate with a full-scale art show to unveil the young artists’ pieces with all the pomp and circumstance they deserve.

Arambula has been affiliated with The Way to Happiness Foundation International for more than 30 years and believes these booklets change lives. “This is not just some little ‘feel-good’ booklet. It is a civilization changer, a truly practical, modern guide that anyone can use to confidently steer his or her way to a happier, more successful life. We need to spread more love, compassion, morality and human decency throughout every corner of society and it needs to happen now!” says Arambula, citing that The Way to Happiness booklets have proven statistics of effecting positive change in millions of lives of people in cities & whole countries worldwide, where the crime rates decline and people feel safer.

For example, as a result of a recent widespread distribution of the booklets in Cartagena, Columbia, the overall homicide rate dropped to its lowest in 22 years and the city is now touted as one of the safest cities in South America. “I believe with a combination of art and The Way to Happiness booklets, it’s the best way to create a better, safer world.”

Award winning artist Debbie Marie Arambula is internationally collected & known for her exuberant colorful heart paintings and her generous community art projects and contributions to groups like Hospice of the Valley, American Heart Association, Artists’ for Human Rights, Boulder City Hospital, Hearts in San Francisco Foundation, SF General Hospital, Citizens Commission for Human Rightsand Whole Planet Foundation.
